How the UHF Windshield Tag Works

time: 2024-07-11 16:22

A UHF windshield tag is a type of RFID tag specifically designed for use on vehicle windshields. Here's how it works:

Tag Installation: The UHF windshield tag is attached to the inside of the vehicle's windshield. It is usually non-transferable and destructible, meaning it cannot be removed without being damaged, which prevents reuse.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID): The tag contains a small RFID chip and an antenna. When the vehicle passes an RFID reader, the reader emits a radio signal that activates the chip in the tag.

Data Transmission: Once activated, the tag transmits its unique identifier and any other stored data back to the reader. This transmission occurs over the UHF (Ultra High Frequency) range, typically between 300 MHz and 3 GHz.

Data Processing: The reader captures the data and sends it to a backend system for processing. This system can be used for various applications such as vehicle identification, toll collection, parking management, and security access control.

Applications:

Toll Collection: Automates the process of toll payment by reading the tag as the vehicle passes through a toll booth.

Parking Management: Controls access to parking facilities and can track entry and exit times.

Security Access: Manages access to secure areas, ensuring only authorized vehicles can enter.
